Hassan is small town in the south Indian state of Karnatka. Named after the local deity Hassanamba, the town is known for its magnificent Temple architecture. History of Hassan dates back to 11th century and it remains can still be seen in the Halebidu and Belur. These are some of the most visited places of Karnatka. Halebidu was a lavish town during the Hoysala empire but was ransacked twice and hence it was called Halebid. Belus is another temple town situated on the banks of river Yagachi. The temples at Belur and Halebid showcase the marvelous Hoysala architecture.

Sravanbelagola is another place which is worth visiting. An important Jain pilgrimage site wich has a 57 feet Monolithic stone statue of Bhagwan Gomateshwara. The statue is the largest of its kind. A spectacular ceremony takes places here in every 12 year which draws thousands of devotees, here.
