Lions, the king of the jungle and when it comes to Asiatic lion, there is no other place than Gir national park where you can find them. Situated in the western state of India, the park is the only home of Asiatic Lions. These magnificent creatures, once reached on the verge of extinction due to massive hunting. But because of some serious and effective conservation efforts taken by the park authorities, there is significant growth in their population.

Spread on an area of 258 Sq km, which is largely covered by the dry deciduous forest. Approximately 38 species of mammals, 36 species of reptiles are found here. Lions are the main attraction of the park and t.here are more than 400 Lions in the park. Hence the lion sighting is also good here. Other than these Leopards, Sloth bears, spotted hyenas and golden Jackals can also be spotted.

It’s a good place for bird watchers as more than 300 species of birds are found here, out of which some are counted in endangered species. The park is rich in flora resources too as more than 500 species of plants are available here. As most part of the forest is dry and deciduous, the seven perennial rivers are the life line of this land. November to march is the good time to visit the park due to cooler weather. However animal sightings are slightly better in summer season (April to June).
